CoachingJeff Lomas
Jeff is a ‘Club Coach Award (CCA-P)’ qualified professional tennis coach with considerable experience coaching players of all ages and abilities. After achieving his DCA (Development Coach Award) in 2004, Jeff developed his coaching skills at various clubs including the Northern Lawn Tennis Club, Hale Barns LTC, Didsbury LTC and David Lloyd. Jeff completed his CCA qualification in 2006, specialising in the development of performance players. Jeff has a real passion for tennis which began at the age of 9. As a Junior, he played to a high standard, working with national tennis coaches and regularly competing with top national juniors, achieving a national junior ranking. He had various successes in singles and doubles including winning the Cheshire Junior County Doubles title. Jeff takes real pride in developing players of all ages and abilities and will offer a comprehensive coaching programme that includes both individual and group sessions, with junior, adult and mini tennis elements. Jeff aims are to deliver an effective coaching programme that all can enjoy for the long term benefit of the club and its players, whether interested on a social or competitive level.
Assistant Coach Mike Weyman is from a competitive tennis background starting his career at Middlesex University High Level Tennis Centre and leading on to County representation and experience of the American Collegiate circuit. He is currently a Nationally ranked over 35 player and hopes to achieve an I.T.F ranking this year. Mike is part of the performance team at the Northern LTC in West Didsbury and is an integral part of the new Northern / Esporta Tennis Academy. He currently works with a number of Nationally and Internationally ranked Tennis players across all age groups as well as providing coaching and fitness squads for all levels and age groups at the Northern. Mike also works at grass roots level identifying and nurturing talent in primary schools across South Manchester. Mike has worked across a number of sports from grass roots to elite level. He has provided Strength and Conditioning advice to a number of professional and International level athletes and specialises in footwork and movement training, speed and agility development and strength improvement. Mikes’ tennis philosophy is that tennis represents a unique opportunity to combine technical skill with fitness and the ability to socialise and have fun. He believes that Bowdon Bowling & LTC itself represents a unique opportunity utilise his skills and knowledge to the benefit of all concerned. Mike will be available for lessons on a Sunday to begin with, and hopefully extending to other days of the week too.
